The weather has been a challenged, but we are still trying to get back into the swing of beginning our preparation for some upcoming testing. First, I should acknowledge what a wonderful improvement our students demonstrated on the middle of the year Dibels testing. Our school went from a 67% benchmark to an 82% benchmark. This is an improvement of 15 %! Great job, Jets!
In March our third and fourth grade students will be taking the state wide ISTEP Applied Skills Test. The test will start on March 3 and can run through March 12. Language Arts and Math will be tested. Science will also be tested for fourth grade.
On March 17-March 19th our third grade students will be taken the state wide assessment, Iread. This is an assessment that measures the 5 components of reading. It is the goal of all educators to make sure children who are in 3rd grade are able to read fluently on a third grade level and comprehend what they are reading.
Results for these tests should be sent home later in the Spring. Please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher or myself if you have any questions in regards to these assessment.
In my February post, I will address how you can help your child prepare for these important assessment. Remember, you are your child's first and most important teacher.
Please feel free to respond to my posts. I do enjoy receiving feedback.
Keep warm and enjoy a good book!
